Team Nigeria will compete in 11 events at the 2024 Paris Olympics in France which will take place from July 26 and end on August 11.
Team Nigeria will travel with at least 88 athletes who will be representing the country in different events at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Athletics have the highest number of Nigerian athletes vying for gold at the tournament and it is one of the events expected to win Nigeria a good number of medals.
Other events Team Nigeria is expected to do very well in are Wrestling, boxing and Taekwondo. Nigerian athletes have been known to do well in the aforementioned sports.
Athletes like Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume, Blessing Oborodudu, Favour Ofili, Odunayo Adekouroye, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, and Aruna Quadri (table tennis), are seen as Nigeria’s biggest hope for medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ahead of the sports festival, the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, urged Nigeria’s contingents to surpass the country’s achievement at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA.
Recall that in the 1996 Olympics, Team Nigeria won two golds, one silver, and three bronze medals to finish the tournament in the 32nd spot on the medals table. Since then, Nigeria has never surpassed that mark.
