2027 Presidency: Atiku Gets Endorsement from Youth Group Ahead of ElectionsBy Ridwan Adeola

Abuja, FCT — With the 2027 presidential race beginning to take shape, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has secured a significant endorsement from a youth-driven support group aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Atiku Youth Wing, a nationwide grassroots movement, officially declared its support for Atiku’s potential candidacy, reaffirming its confidence in his leadership qualities and political experience. The announcement was made through a statement signed by the group’s Director-General, Odih Rowland.

According to the group, Atiku’s previous tenure as vice president from 1999 to 2007 and his broad experience in governance, business, and diplomacy uniquely position him to lead Nigeria through its current challenges.

“As Nigeria approaches another crucial election cycle, our nation requires a leader who deeply understands its issues, possesses a clear vision for the future, and has the will to implement lasting solutions. We strongly believe that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar embodies these qualities,” the statement read.

The group encouraged Nigerians, especially the youth, to support a candidate who they believe is truly committed to national development and inclusivity. “This is the time to rally behind a leader who represents hope and progress,” they added.

Atiku, who has previously contested for the presidency six times — in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and most recently in 2023 — continues to be a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.

The endorsement comes amid growing efforts within the opposition to form a united front ahead of the next general election. On March 20, 2025, Atiku publicly announced a new coalition of opposition figures aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s administration in 2027.

While the coalition has generated political interest and speculation, it also raises questions about unity and coherence, given the varied interests and ideologies of the members involved.
