2Baba’s Alleged Partner, Natasha Osawaru, Removed as Minority Leader in Edo Assembly

In a significant political shake-up, Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa—widely known for her rumored relationship with music star 2Baba (Innocent Idibia)—has been ousted as the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.

The restructuring, which occurred during a recent plenary session, also led to the removal of Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian as the Majority Leader and Hon. Yekini Idaiye from his role as Chief Whip. All three lawmakers are affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Despite the changes, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Hon. Maria Edeko, both of the PDP, retained their positions as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House, respectively.

The reshuffle follows a formal letter from Jarret Tenebe, Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, which was submitted to the House. The APC gained numerical dominance in the Assembly after four PDP legislators defected to its side, giving the party a clear majority and paving the way for leadership adjustments.

As part of the new appointments, Hon. Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbokhan (APC, Esan West) was named Majority Leader. Hon. Addeh Emakhu Isibor (APC, Esan North-East I) took on the role of Deputy Leader, and Hon. Lecky Hussein Mustapha (APC, Etsako West I) was installed as Chief Whip.

Speaker Agbebaku announced that the PDP would need to submit a revised list of its principal officers in light of the new political configuration. He also hinted that no leadership seat, including those of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, was entirely guaranteed, leaving room for possible further changes in the House’s leadership structure.
