A passenger was badly hurt on Friday after jumping from a United Express flight taxiing from a boarding area at Los Angeles International Airport.
According to the spokesman, the man opened the aircraft door, activated the emergency slide raft, and exited onto the taxiway around 7:10 p.m. local time. The Los Angeles Airport Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived quickly.
According to an FAA representative, the flight was bound for Salt Lake City and was operated by SkyWest Airlines.
According to the FAA, an altercation occurred shortly before the passenger attempted to exit the Embraer 175 regional jet.
According to officials, no other passengers were hurt.
The passenger who exited the plane was taken into custody by law enforcement and taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
