Amaewhule: By Monday, If Fubara Does Not Appear, Then The Gods Are Not To Blame – Lawmaker

According to the report from SYMFONI TV, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has set a clear deadline for the state’s budget submission after the failure to re-present the 2025 budget, demanding accountability and prompt action from the relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly has granted the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), an additional opportunity to appear before the House. This move follows his earlier failure to do so, despite repeated requests.

During a heated session, a lawmaker addressed the assembly, urging patience and understanding regarding the RSIEC Chairman’s absence. “Let us give him one more chance, Mr. Speaker,” the lawmaker stated, adding, “I want to lend my voice to what my dear colleagues have said. I want to say that this is the last time we should discuss this matter. I plead with my colleagues to give him 72 hours, just 72 hours. By Monday, if he does not appear, then the gods are not to blame.”

The call for this final grace period reflects the assembly’s frustration but also its commitment to resolving the matter. The lawmakers have made it clear that time is running out, and further delays will no longer be tolerated. The chairman’s failure to comply with the new deadline could lead to severe consequences, potentially undermining public trust in the RSIEC and the broader political system.
