Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) has stated that despite the economic challenges, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has performed well for Nigerians. He made this remark on Monday in Abuja while speaking with journalists at the party’s National Secretariat, where he led some forum members on a visit to the party’s leadership.

The PGF, an umbrella body of all serving governors elected on the APC platform, held a closed-door meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. Uzodimma mentioned that the meeting aimed to maintain contact with the party’s leadership, express loyalty, and commiserate with Ganduje, who recently lost his mother-in-law.

“Politically speaking, we don’t need to over-flog the horse; the truth is that the APC has done very well in Nigeria,” Uzodimma said. He added that the current economic issues are part of a global problem, and the Bola Tinubu-led administration is implementing policies to address the challenges faced by the country since taking office.

“I am very confident that very soon, Nigerians will be jubilant about how he has managed to navigate the waters,” Uzodimma expressed optimism.

The meeting also aimed to show solidarity with the party’s national leadership and managers, who are responsible for the party’s day-to-day affairs and policies. Uzodimma emphasized the governors’ commitment to supporting the leadership and showing encouragement and solidarity.

He also expressed optimism about the APC’s chances in the upcoming September 21 Edo governorship election, citing the party’s majority status. “I am the chairman of the PGF and when I speak, I speak on behalf of my colleagues, 20 governors. A party like APC is in control of 20 states out of 36 and also has produced a president and members of the Federal Executive Council in the majority. If the election is the game of numbers, the majority will win, which the other party can provide or boast of as such an asset.”

In his remarks, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje expressed satisfaction with the governors’ visit, calling it a significant blessing to the party. He assured the party’s leadership is happy and confident in the governors, promising to maintain a good relationship and protect their interests.

The meeting highlights the APC’s efforts to address national issues and maintain unity and solidarity within the party, particularly among its governors and leadership.
