The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has disclosed the reason for the party’s interest in winning elections in Abia, Enugu, and Anambra States. Speaking on Sunday during the APC South East Stakeholder’s Meeting at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, Ganduje said the party wants to end the marginalization of the states and others in the southeast.
He stated that the alignment of the states in the region with the ruling party would give the people of the region the opportunity to benefit maximally from mainstream politics. The APC National Chairman therefore called on all party supporters in the state to ensure all hands are on deck to achieve this aim.
“For us to take over Enugu, Anambra, and Abia States, we must unite and uphold internal democracy and understand the constitution of our Party. We will soon start electronic registration. We will examine each polling unit to know the ones that have registered for APC.
“We urge you (Ebonyi) to continue with this vigor until the South East is brought into the political limelight,” he said.
On his part, the Governor of Imo State and Chairman, South-East Governor’s Forum, Hope Uzodinma, agreed with Ganduje, stressing that the region must be de-marginalized. Uzodinma also called for the understanding and patience of Nigerians regarding the difficult times in the country.
He said the administration of President Bola Tinubu means well, and the economic policies of the present administration will soon yield dividends.
“We thank Governor Nwifuru for converting the entire state into a one-Party State. God Almighty has given us an opportunity to speak for our people. The cost of living is very high. We need to make our people know that there’s hope. I am not happy that the cost of living is high, but the good news is that the policies of the federal government, if judiciously implemented, will bring prosperity to our people.
“People engineering protests are people who lost elections. We will not let them incite our people. Nobody should incite us. We can never honor any crisis in Nigeria. We don’t want any crisis and war. I have no regrets for what we have passed through, because it has made us stronger. Ebonyi is a template, and they have shown us the way. Abia is next. Don’t eat alone because if you eat alone, you die alone.
“I want to thank the National Chairman for the program to de-marginalize us. The more elections we win, the better things get,” he said.
