In a escalating war of words, Hope Uzodimma, the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, has issued a controversial call for the arrest and imprisonment of PDP governors.
This provocative statement comes in response to the PDP governors’ demand for the APC-led federal government to urgently address the worsening economic hardship in the country.
Uzodimma, in a statement on Tuesday, warned against statements that could incite the public and emphasized the need for cooperation among governors to address the nation’s security and economic challenges.
He criticized the PDP governors for lamenting economic hardships without offering concrete solutions, accusing them of disloyalty for not acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s efforts.
The PDP governors had raised concerns about the economic and security challenges facing the nation, drawing parallels with Venezuela’s situation. In contrast, Uzodimma defended the government’s economic policies, stating that temporary hardship is an inevitable consequence on the path to prosperity.
Uzodimma said: “Ultimately, the decision rests squarely with Nigerians and other organs in the country to ensure that we take actions that will bring relief to all of us.”
He said further: “I don’t know when they stopped supporting that economic policy, but they are familiar with the cliche that you cannot make an omelette without breaking an egg. We were all aware of the temporary hardship the policy would cause, but that will soon give way to prosperity.”
