Kalu Agu, the lawyer representing victims of the Sabon Lugbe demolition, has claimed that the area, previously developed with over 200 billion naira in investments, is now being offered for sale by authorities for 30 billion naira.
In a live coverage by Symfoni TV, Agu said one of his clients was even approached to buy the property but attempted to negotiate a lower price of 10 billion naira, however, the authorities insisted on the 30 billion naira price. Agu questioned why the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike would approve the demolition of an area where his client had invested so heavily..
In Agu’s words: “So why will Wike because of meager 30 billion naira go and demolish a place that my client had invested over 200 billion naira in developing the area. Just for 30 billion naira. Gentlemen of the press, you can investigate this our allegation that the FCT minister went and demolished that place because of his selfish interest. If you have 30 billion naira you can go and acquire it”
