Two members of the Abia State Executive Council have voluntarily resigned from their positions, according to a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha.
Contrary to earlier reports of sackings, the statement clarified that Mr. Chima Oriaku, Commissioner for Science and Technology, and Prof. Monica Ironkwe, Commissioner for Agriculture, tendered their resignation letters to Governor Alex Otti.
While the reasons behind their resignation remain undisclosed, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary expressed gratitude on behalf of the Governor, thanking them for their service and sacrifice to the state. The statement also wished them well in their future endeavours.
This development comes on the heels of the suspension of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, who was relieved of her duties to pave the way for an investigation into her activities.
