Buhari Reacts as El-Rufai Says He Consulted Him Before Leaving APC

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he remains a loyal member of the party that supported his two-term presidency.

His response follows speculation about defections from the APC, including the recent departure of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). There have also been rumors of other prominent figures planning to leave the ruling party.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari made it clear that he stands firmly with the APC and remains dedicated to its progress.

“Former President Muhammadu Buhari reiterates that he remains a committed member of the APC and wishes to be recognized as such,” the statement read.

Buhari emphasized that he would never abandon the party that supported his leadership, expressing gratitude for the trust and backing he received during his time in office. He pledged to continue working for the party’s growth and success.

Meanwhile, former Governor El-Rufai had earlier disclosed that he consulted Buhari before officially leaving the APC for the SDP, as reported by Vanguard.
