“Business Of Madmen”: Chris Ngige Reveals The Dark Side Of Politics To Senator Ubah

Former Anambra State Governor, Chris Ngige, used humor and candor to illustrate the chaotic and demanding nature of political life, recounting a conversation with Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Ngige revealed he had warned Ubah, a businessman, about the unpredictable world of politics, calling it the “business of madmen.”

Ngige described how politics often takes an immense toll, with endless late-night meetings stretching into the early hours of the morning and little time for family. Despite the grueling demands, he commended Ubah for enduring the chaos, humorously acknowledging that he proved to be “as mad as the rest of us.”

He said in a live coverage by Symfoni, ” I called him. I said, ‘Ifeanyi, you’re a businessman.’ He said, ‘Uh-huh.’ I asked, ‘What about the money you promised us?’ He said, ‘Uh-huh.’ I told him, ‘Clearly, you’ve made a mistake getting involved. This business—it’s the business of madmen. You won’t see your family. You’ll be going to meetings that end at 2 a.m., 3 a.m., 4 a.m., and yet, you must keep moving. It’s endless! It will drive you crazy. But despite this, Ifeanyi stuck it out, proving he was as mad as the rest of us.”
