Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade has fired four commissioners from his cabinet.

Christian Ita, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, made the announcement to journalists in a statement issued today, May 31.

Mike Usibe (New City Development), Rita Ayim (Women Affairs), Asu Okang (Information), and Ntufam Etim are among the commissioners affected, according to the statement (Climate Change). Ita also stated that the governor has removed five other appointees from their positions. Leo Inyambe, Orok Duke, Victor Okon, John Bassey, and Mbeh Agbiji are among them.

While no reason was given for the Governor’s decision, he thanked the affected commissioners and appointees for their contributions to the state and wished them well in their future endeavors. They were, however, asked to return any government property or vehicles they had in their possession to the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

This decision comes after the governor defected from the PDP to the ruling APC a few weeks ago.
