El-Rufai Absent As Kaduna APC Executive Passes Vote Of Confidence On Uba Sani

Former Governor Nasir el-Rufai was notably absent from the latest executive committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, where a vote of confidence was passed on the current Governor, Uba Sani, on Saturday.

The executive committee, which is the highest decision-making body of the APC in Kaduna, convened to discuss various state matters and commend Governor Sani for his initiatives.

The committee specifically praised the governor’s efforts in transforming rural areas and his programs aimed at empowering youth and women, signalling strong party support for his administration.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, former governor of Kaduna; Datti Babawo, Vice-Chair of the APC in the North-West; and Yusuf Dahiru Liman, Speaker of the Kaduna House of Assembly.

The absence of Nasir el-Rufai comes amidst a reported deterioration in relations with Governor Uba Sani.

Earlier in March, Governor Sani had publicly criticized the financial burdens his administration inherited from el-Rufai, including a hefty debt and numerous contractual liabilities.

These financial challenges, according to Governor Sani, have significantly strained the state’s budget, affecting its monthly allocations from the federation account.

Further complicating matters, an ad hoc committee of the Kaduna House of Assembly recently recommended probing el-Rufai’s administration for alleged mismanagement of N423 billion.

In response, el-Rufai has initiated legal action against the state assembly, contesting the claims and defending his administration’s financial practices.
