Pastor E. A Adeboye, the General Supervisor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has instructed demonstrators to “behave orderly” as they “voice their complaints within the limits of what God and the law of the land requires.”
Adeboye responded to the demonstrations that have been going on for over a week to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
His reaction was contained in a Wednesday night statement signed by the Assistant General Overseer (Administration and Personnel), Pastor Johnson F Odesola.
Adeboye said the RCCG supports Nigerians protesting police brutality and called for the Police Force to be restructured.
The statement added that “the church welcomes the SARS disbandment and notices the development of a new outfit called the Special Arms and Tactics Team (SWAT), but advises that in a new bottle it should not become a case of old wine.”
