Nigeria Professional Football League fans disrupt a football match between Pillars and Akwa United in Kaduna at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Sunday.
The incident occur after, the Pillars defied the order that from Nigeria Football League Federation that the home club shiuld not allow thier Fan’s enter the football venues in order with the Presidential Task Force rule on COVID-19.
Pandemonium broke out when Nyima Nwagua’s goal was flagged as offside by assistant referee Abdul Rasheed from Kwara, and it was agreed referee Adebimpe Quadri from Lagos 87th minute in the game.
Fans, immediately matched to the pitch, disrupted the match, chasing the said assistant referee around the pitch, and one Akwa United player got slapped by a fan, before the match was suspended by the Management Company.
Via a tweet the Management said “Kano Pillars vs Akwa United football Match will continue tomorrow at 8am after being interrupted,”
An Akwa United player, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “I don’t know what would have happened if the match had ended without Pillars winning the game, there would have been blood everywhere.
The Akwa United Media Team Officer said “We were escorted by a few Pillars players to our bus, but the Fan’s would not let us pass, but we were later able to leave the pitch around 6:55pm with the help of two police officers vans.
Accirding to the leaguy Constitution, the home team, Pillars will lose the three points for not fokkowing Covid- 19 protocol, while the match officials also face query for starting the match after there was presence of fans.
Recall that, a week ago a match between Remo Stars and Edo Insurance was also disrupted by Fan’s in Ogun State, leaving 6 players injured.
