Former US President Donald Trump welcomed the federal government’s ban on Twitter, saying it was a victory for the Nigerian people and a necessary inspection of the excessive behavior of social media giants. Trump also stated that he hoped to have taken similar action when he was banned from using the Weibo platform in January. He called on other world leaders to take similar action against Facebook, Twitter and other big tech companies.

“Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President.

More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech — all voices should be heard. In the meantime, competitors will emerge and take hold.
