- He ordered the resolution of pending compensation issues and that the contractors go back to the sites within one week
The Kano State Government has mandated the immediate release of funds to contractors for the completion of the stalled five-kilometer road projects across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Governor Abba Yusuf made the disclosure shortly after meeting with contractors handling the projects at the Government House.
He ordered the resolution of pending compensation issues and that the contractors go back to the sites within one week.
“We must resolve all compensation issues and ensure contractors are back on site within one week,” he stated.
He also ordered the immediate release of a 30 percent upfront payment to the contractors.
“In light of the escalating construction material prices, we will review costs and ensure strategic monthly payments to prevent project stagnation,” the governor said.
Recall that former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso during his tenure initiated the 5 kilometres rural network road projects that were abandoned due to inexplicable reasons.
