The State Government of Lagos led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has responded to rumours that it plans to shut down the entire state during the festive periods, describing it as unfounded, untrue.
This came as a result of panic buying food and other household products by residents as a result of the state government’s viral rumour of reimposition of lockdown some time from this week.
Note that, following the rise in coronavirus cases in the state, the governor had read the riot acts prohibiting carnivals, festivals, street parties, and ordering civil servants to operate from home until further notice on Friday.
However, clarifications were given by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, when he advised residents to disregard such a statement and go about their legitimate businesses.
While giving clarification to Vanguard, Omotoso, simply said, ” There is no such plans. We have issued guidelines that people should follow to keep us safe and sound. Lagosians are urged to obey the guidelines.”
