Governor Zulum’s Son Denies Killing Chinese National

Umara, the son of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has denied allegations that he was involved in a murder case in India.

This denial comes after the Borno State government had earlier refuted reports of his arrest in connection with the alleged incident.

According to social media reports, Umara, who is a student at a university in New Delhi, was accused of smashing a bottle on a Chinese national during an altercation over a woman at a nightclub.

These reports suggested that the incident resulted in the death of the Chinese national.

Addressing the allegations, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Zulum on New Media, issued a statement on Wednesday clarifying that none of the governor’s sons was involved in any criminal activity.

Bundi emphasized that no arrest or charges had been made against Umara.

In a 35-second video clip posted on social media on Thursday, Umara himself broke his silence, describing the allegations as baseless and untrue.

He stated that the accusations were targeted at tarnishing his father’s reputation. Umara reportedly made these comments at the Government House in Maiduguri.

“Dear esteemed Nigerians, I am Umara Babagana Umara Zulum, I am here to address damaging falsehood that had been made against me.

“It has come to my notice, a baseless gossip accusation against me saying that I killed someone at nightclub. This is not true. They want to tarnish my father’s name. I have been with my family since two months now, right in Maiduguri,” he said.
