Some unidentified gunmen have reportedly abducted two women, reportedly wives to a certain individual, at Ikerin Opin, in Ekiti local government area of Kwara state.
Naturenex learnt that the incident occurred in the late evening of the previous Sunday in the town, while the residents were asleep.
It was gathered that the kidnappers had issued a ransom demand of ₦15 million from the families of the victims before they could be released.
Information from individuals with knowledge of the situation has revealed that the assailants invaded the town at midnight on Sunday, directly entering the residences of the victims, including the homes of the two women who were married to the same man.
In response to this distressing event, security forces have been mobilized to the dense forests surrounding the town in an effort to rescue the victims.
According to Vanguard, the security forces involved in the operation include personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Police, and Vigilante groups stationed in the area.
It has been reported that the families of the victims have been tirelessly working to gather the ransom demanded by the kidnappers in order to secure the release of their wives.
Upon inquiry, a senior official from the NSCDC in the state, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed details of the kidnappings to journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday.
He said “We have been working with other security agencies like police and Vigilantes to rescue the two victims.”
