Stanley Nnaji, a former Enugu state high court judge, was assassinated by unknown gunmen.

Nnaji was killed in Enugu on Sunday evening while driving in a black Mercedes Benz SUV.

An eyewitness posted a video on Twitter showing how the assailants double-crossed the judge’s car, dragged him out, and shot him.

The incident was reported to have occurred near the Enugu Diagnostics Centre, near the Ebeano Tunnel.

Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, the state commissioner of police, confirmed the incident and said he has ordered a manhunt for the gunmen.

The commissioner stated in a statement signed by Daniel Ndukwe, the police command’s spokesperson, that “the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.”

Nnaji is from Mbu in the state’s Isi-Uzo LGA.
