Having Heard Cries From Members Of The Party And Obidient Movement, Obi Ask For An Extension – Tanko

In a candid interview on Arise TV, the spokesman of the Obi-Datti presidential campaign council, Yunusa Tanko outlines the steps that Peter Obi has taken to address the internal conflict within the Labour Party. He notes that Obi has met with representatives from all levels of the party, and has expressed his preference for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

He also highlights the importance of democratic principles and the rule of law. He suggests that the extension of the party’s deadline for the convention will allow for further discussion.

He said, “It’s very important that the right thing is been done. That is the true position that his excellency, Peter Gregory Obi has made known to the leadership of the party. In order to intervene in the issue, he first had a meeting with the members of the Federal House of Reps, then he had a meeting with the Senators, and then he had a meeting with the leadership of the party in Asaba. And his position was consistent with what he believed.

He does not like to belong to an association or a group where there is too much acrimony, and he believes in the rules of law which is the focal point of our democracy. Having heard a lot of cries by members of the political party and Obidient movement, who happen to be 6 million or more than that across the Federal Republic of Nigeria, He (Peter Obi) ask the leadership of the party for an extension. A shift indeed for proper consolidation, consideration, and conversation with all the stakeholders.”
