How Gunmen Storm Abia University And Abducted Undisclosed Students

The PUNCH has reported that gunmen abducted an undisclosed number of students from Abia State University, Uturu, on Wednesday night.

The students were reportedly whisked into the forest by the hoodlums shortly after they were ambushed while riding a bus along Okigwe- Uturu Road.

Two of the students escaped the clutches of the hoodlums, according to the state’ s Commissioner for Information, John Kalu, who said others were still being kept hostage by the criminals in a statement on Thursday.

Abia State Government is currently monitoring an incident that occurred in Okigwe, Imo State, yesterday that resulted in the alleged abduction of an unknown number of students from Abia State University, Uturu, who apparently ran into an unknown gang of hoodlums operating along the Okigwe- Uturu Road, ” the statement read.

” Preliminary information available to us indicates that the students were traveling in a mini van from Okigwe to Uturu between the hours of 7 and 8 p. m. when they were ambushed by an armed gang, who marched them and other unidentified travelers into the nearby forest. Two of the students were able to flee the hoodlums, while the others are still being held at an undisclosed venue.

” To ensure the rescue of the abducted students and others, we are collaborating with the government of Imo State and relevant security agencies in both states.

Members of the public and the ABSU community are urged to remain calm, as we will use all available resources to ensure the victims’ welfare.
