A former member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, says the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was able to spend three days in the South-East without any harassment.
The Kano-born NNPP chieftain, who stated this in a post on his verified social media page on Saturday, said Kwankwaso is the only major presidential candidate to have stay in South-East for that long.
His words : “The presidential candidate of NNPP HE Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso PhD, FNSE was in the south east for 3 days 8th-11th Nov, 2022. ( the only presidential candidate to spend 3 days in the region) opening NNPP offices and meeting party leaders, stakeholders and supporters.
“The entourage moved freely accross the south east and no one was hostile towards the candidate and his entourage. It feels like any other part of the country. While the south east has its challenges like other regions in the country, it can do more in showing a true picture of the region to change the current perception. ”
Naturenex reports that though there has been worsening security situation in the South-East in recent times, which is often blamed on unknown gunmen, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, hails from Anambra where he often stays.
The other two major contenders, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) hails from Lagos, South-West while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is from Adamawa in North-East Nigeria.
