Human rights activist and lawyer, Chidi Odinkalu, has expressed skepticism towards Professor Usman Yusuf’s recent statement on the perceived silence of the South-East region amidst the ongoing economic hardship in Nigeria.
Professor Yusuf had called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate the reasons behind this silence, stating that he did not know why the South-East was quiet.
In response, Odinkalu questioned the validity of expecting uproar from the South-Eastern region in the face of economic adversity, implying that such expectations were unfounded.
Professor Yusuf’s statement came following protests in some parts of the North and South-West over the economic challenges in the country.
