I Had A Happier Life In Lagos, Than Sitting Here In A Constant Fight With Government – Lamido Sanusi

1 min read

According to the report from the Sun, the reinstated Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II has explained his decision not to challenge his removal, citing the challenges he would face under the leadership of a governor who openly disliked him.

Given the governor’s animosity and the potential for ongoing harassment, he opted to prioritize his personal well-being and professional pursuits outside of the political spotlight.

With a focus on enjoying a peaceful life in Lagos, engaging in academic work, contributing to United Nations projects, and participating in religious activities, he has found fulfillment in his life beyond the tumultuous world of politics.

He said, “You’re under a governor. The law gives him the power to be on top of you. He has said he doesn’t like you. He has made it clear he does not like you. If I come, he would just make my life miserable.

It was going to be one story after the other. One fake story, one social media insult after another, and in my position, I won’t be able to respond. So, for me, I had a happier life in Lagos with my friends, publishing my book, doing my Ph.D, doing my UN work, doing my Tijaniya work, than sitting here in a constant fight with the government.”
