The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed concern over President Tinubu’s ability to replicate the economic successes he achieved as a two-term governor in Lagos on a national scale.
In an interview with The Sun, the Executive Director of MURIC, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, stated that the Muslim community was disappointed with the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, as President Tinubu seems to be struggling to work the same “magic” he did in Lagos. Akintola’s remarks were in line with the stance of the Sharia council, which also expressed disappointment with the election outcome.
As governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007, Tinubu was credited with instituting economic reforms that significantly contributed to the state’s development
His achievements in Lagos included increasing the state’s internally generated revenue, implementing infrastructure projects, and initiating reforms to improve the efficiency of the civil service
However, there are concerns about his ability to replicate these successes at the national level, particularly in the areas of economic stability, job creation, and security
