John Mikel Obi, the former captain of the Super Eagles, has been appointed as a Youth Ambassador to encourage young Nigerians to strive for excellence. The meeting, which took place on Friday, June 18 at the NOC secretariat at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, is another of the Minister’s initiatives aimed at fostering a dynamic young for national development.
Mr. Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, characterized the former Chelsea player as a role model whose lasting legacies in football development have continued to have a good impact on youngsters in the country while speaking at the occasion.
Mikel’s ambition, as well as the vision for sports development in the country, will be supported by the minister, who also assured the Stoke City midfielder of the Federal Government’s unwavering support if he decides to invest in the country.
Permit me to speak a few words regarding Mikel’s football success. “It is my pleasure to appoint you as Nigeria Youth Ambassador. He is our legend and a role model who has continued to positively influence the lives of youth.”

It’s a new position, and Nigerians will learn about your role as youth ambassador,” the Minister stated. ” Mikel expressed his happiness with his new position and vowed to work with the Sports Ministry to promote young development in the country in his response. “It is an incredible pleasure for me to be nominated as this country’s Youth Ambassador.
I am pleased with this relationship, and I pledge to do everything in my power to promote and motivate young people to pursue national growth in sports such as basketball and boxing, among others,” Mikel stated.
