Nigeria’s senior female basketball team, D’Tigress, has defeated Canada 79-70, advancing to their first-ever quarterfinal appearance at the Olympic Games.
The Canadian team is ranked 5th in the world.
The victory ensures the three-time Women’s Afrobasket champion becomes the first-ever African team (men or women) to play in the quarterfinals of an Olympic Games.
