Nigeria’s security operatives have apprehended the embattled National Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr. Julius Abure, amidst an ongoing internal conflict within the political party.
The specific reasons cited for this arrest are fraud-related charges involving substantial sums of money allegedly misappropriated from the party.
Abure had previously faced intense scrutiny due to claims accusing him of diverting more than three billion naira ($6 million USD) belonging to the Labor Party.
This latest development comes as no surprise given the mounting pressure he endured after these financial irregularities surfaced.
Naturenex reports that police officers took action against Abure earlier today in Benin City, Edo State, where they placed him into custody based upon suspicions surrounding various economic offenses.
