JUST IN: There Is No Reason For Nnamdi Kanu’s Continued Detention – Peter Obi Declares

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and other freedom fighters in detention

According to Obi, Kanu’s continued detention is unjustified.

He said, “I don’t see any reason for his continuous detention, especially as the courts have granted him bail. The government must obey the court.”

He made the demands in a press briefing on Saturday in Onitsha, Anambra State.

He added, “The rule of law is an intricate asset that we must cherish and live with. I use this opportunity to plead with the Federal Government to ensure that all those who are in similar conditions are released and discussed.

“We are in a democracy, and we should not be doing things that are arbitrary and not within the law.”

He expressed concern over the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, warning that the country may become a failed state if urgent action is not taken.

Obi urged leaders to collaborate and intensify efforts to address insecurity, particularly in the South-East region.

He encouraged the governors of the South-East states to work together to tackle insecurity and promote economic development in the region.
