JUST IN: Yobe State Government Imposes Curfew to Quell Violent Protests

The Yobe State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru areas of the state.

This decision comes after hoodlums took advantage of the ongoing hardship protests to loot government properties.

Brig. Gen Dahiru Abdussallam (retd), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security matters, made the announcement in a statement on Thursday.

According to him, the curfew is a necessary measure to ensure the safety and security of lives and properties in the affected areas.

“The Yobe State Government has closely monitored the security situation in Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru towns, where some unscrupulous elements are exploiting the protests to vandalize and loot government and private properties,” the statement read.

“In light of this, the state government has deemed it necessary to impose a 24-hour curfew on the aforementioned areas. We urge the public to comply with this order and stay indoors to allow peace to reign in these areas and the state at large.”

The statement further said that security agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement and full compliance with the curfew order.
