Kaduna Announces Date For LG Elections

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has announced the date for local government elections in the state.

Chairperson of KADSIECOM, Hajara Mohammed, revealed on Tuesday during a gathering with political parties and relevant stakeholders that the elections across the 23 Local Government Areas within the state will be held on October 19, 2024.

She pointed out that the existing members of the council took their oaths on November 1, 2021, and their term will conclude on October 31, 2024.

She mentioned that it is the duty of KAD-SIECOM to oversee the election of chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and council members throughout the State.

“In consonance with the provision of section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, the general public is hereby informed that the LGA council election will be held in Kaduna on Saturday, 19th October 2024, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“The commission issues the election timetable today, Tuesday 16th July 2024,” the KADSIECOM chairperson said.

The chairperson also mentioned that the guidelines for the 2024 election, along with the schedule for the elections, have been made available.

She guaranteed the interested groups that the commission was prepared to carry out the election as planned.

Gov Sani Reacts As Kaduna Lawmaker Dies

Meanwhile, the Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Honourable Ekene Abubakar Adams, Member House of Representatives for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.

Naturenex reported earlier that Ekene Adams, who was born in 1985, died on Tuesday morning, 16th July 2024, after a brief illness.

The lawmaker’s death was confirmed to journalists in a WhatsApp message by his close friend, Mike Obasi.

Reacting to the sad development, Governor Uba Sani, in a condolence message to the bereaved family and the residents of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, praised the late representative as a pioneer and courageous figure in politics and administration.

“On behalf of the people of Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani has extended his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and has called for prayers from well-meaning Nigerians for the people of Kaduna State, during this time,” Governor Sani said in a statement signed by Muhammad Lawal Shehu, his Chief Press Secretary.

The deceased, Adams, was the chairman, of the House Committee on Sports until he passed away.

The deceased is regarded to have led a commendable life dedicated to serving the people of his constituency and Kaduna State as a whole.

Throughout his lifetime, he was highly regarded as a politician, community leader, sports administrator, and philanthropist.
