Nationwide Protests: You Have Decided To Suspend Logic – Tinubu’s Aide Replies Nigerians Over ‘Strongest Resistance’ Post

President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Olusegun Dada, has reacted to Nigerians digging up old tweets of him calling for protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Recall that Dada had earlier taken to his X account to warn that those planning to burn the country down would be met with strong resistance from the majority that placed President Bola Tinubu in power.

He wrote, “Those who want to burn the country down under whatever guise will meet the strongest resistance of their lives. Not from security agencies, but from the silent majority that gave their mandate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for four years in the first instance. We are waiting.”

The strong warning comes at a time when some Nigerians are planning a nationwide protest against economic hardship and harsh government policies driven by the fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira.

Dada’s post has elicited various reactions, with some netizens sharing old posts of the media aide calling for protests during Jonathan’s regime.

Serving a rejoinder to his earlier post, the aide stated that he didn’t say people shouldn’t protest, however, ‘burning the country’ will be resisted.

He also said that his old tweets should teach people that chest-thumping on social media cannot bring them the leaders they want.

Dada wrote, “At no point in my post did I say don’t protest. But the narrative setters told you what to think and you decided to suspend logic. Protests are a fundamental right of all citizens. Destroying your country and burning it to the ground is not Patriotism and it will be resisted!

“If my old posts have taught you nothing, it should teach you that votes, not protests nor chest thumping on Social media can bring you the leader of your dreams. Do it at the ballot box like we did in 2015.”
