On Monday June 28, the Nigerian army achieved a great victory in Operation Hardin kai. The Boko Haram rebels tried to attack the forward operating base at Borno Bula yobe. A press release issued by the Nigeria Army’s spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, revealed that these soldiers were assisted by air force personnel. Nwachukwu noted that the soldiers were able to sustain the exchange of fire and successfully killed about 12 terrorists, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The troops also seized a gun tank, a self-propelled 9 pistol, a Dushika pistol and a QJC machine gun. Other items seized included a light machine gun and five AK 47 rifles. However, the shooting resulted in the death of two soldiers, while the other wounded were sent to medical institutions for treatment.

“The general area within FOB Bula Yobe is cool and calm under the control of troops of the battalion. Further exploitation by the resilient troops is ongoing.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya has lauded the Land troops and the Air Component for their synergy and quick response, which is in tandem with the ongoing rejigging of the counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North East. He charged the troops to maintain the tempo and vehemently hold their ground, to deny the terrorists freedom of action.”
