Nigerian Newspapers Daily Front Pages Review | Saturday 20th July, 2024

NATURENEX looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Saturday 20th July 2024.

The PUNCH: A widespread global information technology system outage on Friday caused chaos at airports worldwide, including Nigeria’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where flights from Lagos to the United States of America, Europe, and other international destinations were delayed and cancelled.

Vanguard: NIGERIANS have said the distribution of palliatives by the Federal Government was not the solution to the food shortage facing the country. They urged President Bola Tinubu to declare an emergency in food security, introduce a national food policy, and tackle insecurity caused by herders, which had forced farmers in different states of the country, especially in southern Nigeria, to abandon farming.

The Nation: In spite of the deal struck between the federal government, Labour and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) to fix the minimum wage at N70,000, most states appear to be non-committal about the agreement. While many states have resolved to do further consultations before taking a decision, others prefer to wait for other states to make a move before they decide on the next step.

Independent: In response to the rampant illegal activities plaguing Nigeria’s oil industry, security agencies have declared war on multibillion- Naira oil bunkering and refining businesses. These illegal practices have long harmed the country’s economy, syphoning off valuable resources and undermining the rule of law.

Thank you for reading, that is all for today, see you again tomorrow for a review of Nigerian newspapers.
