It was built during the height of the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970), this underground facility served as the strategic command center for Biafran leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu after the Biafran capital shifted from Enugu to Umuahia in 1968.
Carved deep into the earth and reinforced to withstand aerial bombings, the bunker housed war maps, communication systems, and vital decision-making operations that steered Biafra’s military strategy.
