Oleksandr Usyk Interested In Fighting Anthony Joshua Again

Anthony Joshua Vs Usyk Rematch To Hold Early 2022 - Hearn Reveals

Ukrainian heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has expressed interest in a potential third showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Usyk, who currently holds the WBA ‘super’, WBC, and WBO heavyweight titles, is set to defend his belts against Tyson Fury on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, Joshua is scheduled to take on Daniel Dubois for the IBF title on September 21 at Wembley Stadium. If the 34-year-old heavyweight boxer wins the bout, he could face the winner between Usyk and Fury.

“I don’t particularly want any matches. But, when we beat Tyson Fury for the second time and when Anthony Joshua beats Daniel Dubois, of course they will want to do a third fight,” Usyk told Mail Sport Boxing.

Usyk has made history by becoming only the second boxer after Evander Holyfield to achieve undisputed champion status in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions and the first to do so in the four-belt era.

Despite his achievements in the boxing world, Usyk, who has twice defeated Joshua by decision, has acknowledged the role of the Nigerian-born British boxer in enhancing his global reputation.

He said, “Anthony helped me become even more famous in the world. Anthony did it. And if it happens with God’s help, then I am ready for a third fight with Anthony.”

The Ukrainian boxer also commended Joshua’s recent performances, highlighting his improved mental strength. When asked about Joshua’s chances against Dubois, Usyk replied, “He has improved a lot psychologically.”

“Of course (he beats Dubois). I’m bad at predictions, but it’s (an) Olympic champion and a UK champion. Anthony is a different level.”
