The President of the federal republic stated on Friday in Daura, Katsina State, that Nigeria has only remained together by the grace of God.

Buhari made the remarks while visiting the Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Faruk Umar, in his palace.

According to him, God’s mercy had kept Nigeria together as a country in the face of disagreements that led to a 30-month civil war.

“We will always be grateful to God for preserving our country intact. 

The country was pushed into a political crisis on January 15, 1966. We fought a 30-month civil war that cost approximately a million lives, “Buhari, who is in his hometown to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, told the Emir.

“We are still grateful to God for keeping us together. We are grateful to everyone who has shown an interest in our unity and growth without the grace of God. 

May God bless them in the future, “he said.

Buhari also remembered pleasant recollections of visiting the palace as a military Head of State and expressed satisfaction that the historic institution’s warmth and hospitality had been maintained throughout the years.
