Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has firmly denied any association with the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the party’s political approach as manipulative and toxic.
Obi’s statement comes amid speculations following an invitation from former LP member Valentine Ozigbo, who urged him to consider joining the ruling APC. In response, Obi took to his official X handle to clarify his stance, emphasizing that he has no ties to the APC and will not be part of any group that engages in political blackmail or manipulation.
“I have come across a report circulating on social media regarding an APC gathering where my name was mentioned. Let me make it unequivocally clear: I do not engage in toxic politics, blackmail, or any form of political manipulation. My name should not be associated with such narratives,” Obi stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to integrity in politics, Obi stressed that his focus remains on issue-based engagement rather than party affiliations. He urged all political stakeholders to ensure that elections and primaries are conducted transparently, without bias or personal attacks.
“As we approach the Anambra State governorship election in November, I sincerely hope that all parties, including mine, will ensure a transparent and democratic process. We must reject toxic politics, for that is the only path to achieving the democratic nation we currently lack,” he added.’
