Peter Obi’s Surprising Take On A Woman Leading Labour Party

Moses Paul, a social activist and supporter of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, has shared Obi’s response when asked about his views on a woman leading the Labour Party. This comes after Senator Nnenadi Usman, a former minister of finance, was appointed chairman of the party’s 29-member national caretaker committee.

According to Paul’s post, Obi smiled and said, “A woman is about to lead the world’s most powerful nation. So why should it be surprising for a woman to lead a political party in a country on the brink of being classified as a failed state?”

Obi’s statement suggests that he sees no issue with a woman leading the party, especially when meritocracy is prioritized. Paul noted that Obi consistently emphasizes the importance of hard work and merit in leadership, as seen in his explanation of Dr. Yunusa Tanko’s appointment.

Moses Paul wrote;

“When I asked Mr. @PeterObi about the idea of a woman leading the party, he smiled and said, “Mo, a woman is about to lead the world’s most powerful nation economically, militarily, technologically, culturally, and in political stability. So why should it be surprising for a woman to lead a political party in a country on the brink of being classified as a failed state?”.
