Chelsea’s German defender, Antonio Rudiger, appeared to have bitten Pogba during Germany’s 1-0 loss to France. The two teams clashed in their Euro 2020 opener on Tuesday night. Hummel’s own goal in the first half, was the deciding factor of the game.
Germany tried to come back into the game but could not find a way past the resilient France defence. The French also caused problems for Germany on the counter attack.
During the game, Rudiger appeared to have bitten Pogba. Paul Pogba made a protest to the officials but the incident was not reviewed by VAR. A punishment for Rudiger did not happen as the German went away with his silly action.
Speaking to ITV Sports, Roy Keane and Patrick Vierra blasted the German for his action. Vierra said.
“When you see Pogba’s reaction, it felt like a bite.
“But I don’t really understand what he was trying to do there really.”
Roy Keane said it was a “Silly” move from Rudiger.
“I think it was more of a nibble than a bite. It wasn’t a proper bite. Silly thing to do though obviously.”
It is yet to be known if UEFA are going to look into the incident.
