Femi Falana (SAN) has said, that the arresting of June 12 protesters is illegal and the police should apologize to protesters, the rights activist and lawyer, said the arrest is illegal and it is an infringement of human rights on freedom of expression.

Falana said, an apology be made by the police to all arrested protesters in Lagos, Calabar, Abuja and some other places.

Falana, stated that according to Section 94 (4) of the Electoral Act 2010 stated that the police shiuld provide maximum security during processions, rallies and meetings.

He said; “the police had flouted the Section 83 (4) of the Police Establishment Act 2020, which states thus “Where a person, set of people or organization notifies the police of a meeting, rally to be held in public highway, the police responsible for the area where the meeting procession will occur should mobilize security operatives to provide adequate security throughout the rally.

But “Why were some of this protesters arrested? After you said they did nothing wrong, Why were those hoodlums, thugs and miscreant that wanted to cause chaos at the site of protest not arrested?
Are they the sacred cows, hired to distroy the peaceful gathering of the protesters?
