Political Tensions Escalate in Kano as APC Warns of Possible State of Emergency

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led government in Kano State following controversial accusations made by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

Abdulsalam recently alleged that Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, wife of former Governor and current APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was involved in financial misconduct, particularly meddling with pension funds during her husband’s tenure.

In a widely circulated video, the Deputy Governor claimed that pensioners in the state were only paid after Professor Hafsat had taken a portion of the funds.

In response, the APC Publicity Secretary in Kano, Ahmad S. Aruwa, denounced the allegations in an interview with Express Radio, labeling them defamatory and unconstitutional.

Aruwa argued that Abdulsalam’s statements amounted to character assassination and violated constitutional principles. He warned that such remarks could destabilize the state, creating a political crisis that might warrant a state of emergency—similar to what was recently declared in Rivers State by the Bola Tinubu administration.
