Johnny Wactor, known for his role on General Hospital, has died after he was fatally shot during a suspected robbery in Los Angeles.
The 37-year-old appeared in 164 episodes of the soap opera from 2020 to 2022.
General Hospital issued a statement on Sunday: “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”
According to the Daily Mail, the late actor was leaving his part-time job at a rooftop bar with a female colleague around 3:25 a.m. on Saturday near West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street. He encountered three men, thinking his vehicle was being towed.
Police said that one of the three men, all of whom were wearing masks, shot Wactor before fleeing in a separate vehicle.
Paramedics arrived on scene around 3 a.m. and took Johnny to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Born in 1986 in Charleston, South Carolina, Wactor began his television career with a role in the Lifetime drama series Army Wives. He later made guest appearances in various shows, including Westworld, The OA, and Criminal Minds.
