The Lagos state government’s demolition of several automobile workshops has caused outrage among mechanics in Lagos. Scores of automobile technicians flooded the premises of the house of assembly to express their grieves.

The Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Automobile Technician Association, (NATA) lamented the actions of the Lagos state govt on mechanics.

Matching to the house of assembly, the voiced out ‘We want our mechanic villages back,’ ‘Leave our mechanic village alone’, ‘COVID-19 is not killing us, Lagos government is killing us’, 

The mechanics urged the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to help them and stop the lands bureau from siezing their workshops

“Lagos Lands Bureau, Lagos Ministry of Physical Planning, Stop this Inhumanity,’ ‘Leave Owutu Mechanic Village Alone. Destroying People’s Livelihoods Contribute to Crime and Insecurity, Stop It,’ some of the protesters’ placards read.

The mechanics also called on the dissmisal of the adviser to the Lagos state governor on transportation Mr. Toyin Fayinka.
