Qatar Govt Gives 2 Strong Reasons For Rejecting Tinubu’s Business Meeting Request

Qatar has rejected Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s invitation to attend a high-profile business and investment forum scheduled for March 2–3.

The Gulf nation cited two primary reasons for their decision: the absence of a legally binding investment promotion agreement between both countries and conflicting schedules within their ministries.

President Tinubu’s proposal aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and foster new opportunities for trade and investment.

However, Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry informed Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that they could not host the event due to the lack of such an agreement.

Additionally, the minister responsible for the event, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani, would be engaged in overseas duties at the time of the proposed visit.

Qatar explained that they were hosting a “Web Summit” concurrently with President Tinubu’s planned trip, making their officials unavailable to participate in the Nigerian president’s visit.
