In a recent interview with Channels TV, Nollywood actor Charles Inojie, a close friend of the late John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, reflected on the remarkable strength and character of the renowned actor. Inojie described Mr. Ibu as not only a talented actor but also a black belt holder in taekwondo who was very strong.
During his final days battling illness, Mr. Ibu displayed resilience and determination to overcome his illness and bounce back to his feet.
Inojie saith that each time visits Mr Ibu on his sick bed, he saw a man who was wrestling with death and telling it, “I will win you.” He said that it was his staying power that made Mr. Ibu’s battle against death so inspiring.
In Inojie’s words: “Each time I went to see [Mr Ibu] I saw a man that was wrestling with death and telling death I will win you. And that was his staying power. It’s unfortunate that just when we thought he had actually won the battle, death sneaked in from behind and against the rules, snuffed life out of him”.
