School resumption date not shifted yet – FG reveals when new date will be change

Sani Aliyu, National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID19, says January 18 remains the date for school resumption and will only change after the Federal Government’s review.

Notice that on Monday, January 11, after the second wave of COVID19, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said that the Federal Government would revisit the earlier date set for the resumption of schools across Nigeria on January 18. This was perceived by many to indicate that the deadline for resumption was shifted.

Nevertheless, in an interview with TVC on January 12, Aliyu said that the date for the resumption was not altered.

“As regards schools, I just want to make a clarification. What the minister said yesterday was that they were going to review, he didn’t say that they were going to change the date. He said they will review the situation and let the nation know.

So, for the moment, it is still 18th January until the ministry of education comes back either with an alternative date or reconfirm that.”he said
